8 Week No Sugar Challenge

I have begun an 8 week challenge to cut out sugar from my diet. Why? For a multitude of reasons, but mainly because I want to lower my sugar levels which are higher than I like. No I am not at risk of diabetes but as we all get older high sugar levels leads to many health problems. My main goal is to eventually no longer desire sugar in my diet.  Will I occasionally have dark chocolate or a cocktail of my choice. Certainly! Let's face it I am human. I do want to get into the best shape of my life and one way to do this is to eliminate junk from my diet and eat healthy. Exercise is another. I plan to do both.
How did my first day go?
It wasn't that bad. I started my day with a run and then ate the following.
Breakfast: Plain yogurt with cinnamon, and mint leaves, and a 1/4 cup of blueberries.
Morning snack: Almond milk with  handful of almonds, ice blended together.
Lunch: Smoked salmon with steamed vegetables and a homemade dressing made with
½ teaspoon of Dijon mustard, ½ teaspoon olive oil, and 1 ½ teaspoons soy sauce.
Afternoon snack:  Raw cashews and Almonds
Dinner: Roasted Chicken, string beans, Sweet potato and toss green salad with olive oil and lemon
Bring on Day 2.
